Published quarterly, the Kanza News is the Kaw Nation's official newspaper. It is the primary medium of news and information collection and dissemination for tribal activities, educational and business opportunities, Federal and State legislation, and all things Kaw. We are interested in the well-being of distant friends and relatives, and the Kanza News is the catalyst for networking the whole Kaw Nation, not just those living in Kay County. Individuals and groups can identify with the newspaper, and in turn it can help them organize around issues relevant to them and their concerns. The Kanza News does now what the wajíphanyin, the camp crier, did in earlier times: The newsletter informs the people, giving them important messages and calling them together for meetings, ceremonies, and tribal events.
