ICDBG Program

(Indian Community Development Block Grant)

The ICDBG Program provides eligible grantees with direct grants for use in developing viable Indian and Alaska Native communities, including decent housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities, primarily for low and moderate income persons.

Eligible applicants for assistance include and Indian tribe, band, group, or nation (including Alaska Indians, Aleuts, and Eskimos) or Alaska Native village which has established a relationship to the Federal government as defined in the program regulations. In certain instances, tribal organizations may be eligible to apply.

The ICDBG program can provide funding for recipients in the following categories:

Currently the Kaw Nation ICDBG Department administers the following:

Kanza Health Clinic Expansion
5,010 square foot expansion in Newkirk, OK, to provide adequate space for the current programs and services and additional health care projects to serve Native Americans. Construction began in September 2006.

FY05 ICDBG Grant
500,000 water storage tank located in Braman, OK, to benefit the Kanza Travel Plaza.

FY06 ICDBG Grant
4,200 sq. foot Libary, Educational, and Cultural center located in Kaw City, OK, to provide a resource center for Tribal members and youth.
